Chronic Pain

Simply stated, Chronic Pain is any pain, mild to severe, that does not go away for more than 6 months.  It may come from any source — trauma, overuse, degeneration,  autoimmune disorder, the after effects of infection, and more — and can have a devastating impact on emotional health by keeping people from fully interacting in their lives.

“I have been seen for many different issues over the years.  The most significant improvement I have made is the elimination of 20 years of chronic pain at L4/L5 without pharmaceuticals or surgery.  I am back to running, cycling, golf and skiing.  In addition Lighthouse PT has eradicated severe acid-reflux, reduced post-concussive systems, and reduced hip pain by increasing mobility & strength, which has allowed me to avoid recommended hip-replacement.  Happy to be functioning at a higher level, I couldn’t have done this without you.” – Mark, Marblehead, MA

Pain is not a symptom that exists alone — fatigue, weakened immune system, deconditioning, mood changes, disability, and more come along with it.  The traditional approach to Chronic Pain is to “learn to live with it” or try to medicate it away.  Our treatment approach focuses on finding underlying causes.  You are the culmination of your history — all of the problems and traumas that have occurred throughout your lifetime.  Addressing the most significant components of that history allows opens the doorway for new healing.  This is true regardless of how long the problem has been present.  When those underlying issues are addressed, profound changes occur, even in longstanding issues.
