Bowenwork is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia.  Sometimes called the homeopathy of bodywork, it utilizes subtle inputs to the body, stimulating the body to heal itself, often profoundly.

A set of gentle corrective techniques are applied to the body, interspersed with periods where the client is allowed to rest as their body absorbs the input of those techniques.  Even after treatment and over the next few days, further changes occur as the body reorganizes, softening and lengthening areas of tightness and increasing tone where needed.  All while downgrading the stress response.

Bowenwork is a powerful adjunct to any healthcare program.  Sarah and Matthew are both Bowenwork certified practitioners and several other members of the Lighthouse staff have begun training in this field and will incorporate Bowenwork into their client’s physical therapy session.
