Concussions
Initial signs and symptoms of concussion include confusion, blurred vision, headache, amnesia, trouble focusing or paying attention, dizziness, loss of balance, clumsiness, nausea and vomiting. These can last for a day or much longer depending on the severity.
“I sustained a severe concussion at my college in December of 2012. My immediate concussion symptoms were headache, fogginess, visual problems, and feeling slow. I unfortunately had to take the semester off because of the symptoms I was experiencing at the time. 6 months later in May I was feeling better, but still having visual problems, neck stiffness, and headaches. I saw an article in the newspaper about Integrative Manual Therapy at Lighthouse Physical Therapy and its benefits for concussions. I was willing to try anything that could help me to feel better. I called the Lighthouse Physical Therapy office in Portsmouth and made an appointment. The receptionist did everything in her power to fit me in to be seen by a physical therapist as soon as possible. During the Summer I worked with Kathy and Matt twice per week. Within three therapy sessions my neck mobility, headaches and visual problems had all improved. I was feeling much better by the end of the summer and able to return to school this fall. I am now enrolled in full time classes again. Integrative Manual Therapy is the one thing I can truly say that helped me during this process. The staff at Lighthouse Physical Therapy was kind, caring, and compassionate. They listened to me and always were able to do techniques that helped the symptoms I was experiencing at the time. I would highly recommend Integrative Manual Therapy to anyone. It bridges the gap between the Western and Eastern therapy practices. You will notice immediate results. It really works!”

“Six weeks after suffering from a concussion, Drew was still complaining of terrible headaches, dizziness, and anxiety. He had to discontinue all activities including running, jumping, kickball, basketball and baseball and was having difficulty in school.
We found Lighthouse PT and he began to feel results after his first treatment. After only 5 visits, Drew’s symptoms subsided and he was able to return to playing baseball.”
