My introduction to physical therapy was during my teens when I was recruited as home program assistant for each of my parents as they dealt with several different pain issues. I was intrigued by the process of helping the body heal and restore function. I volunteered at the local hospital physical therapy department and that, coupled with a love of biology and anatomy – because they answered my ever present questions of “how and why” – clinched my career choice.
Outside of work I love to hike, kayak, snowshoe, garden and try to get together with our three now grown “boys” whenever I can. I am active in my church where I serve in the music ministry. We also travel back to Michigan regularly to visit family and play on the big lake.
I’ve been a PT for 32 years but still thoroughly enjoy the ongoing learning process involved in puzzling out and unraveling the barriers to physical healing; of seeing how mechanically intricate and artfully interconnected the human body is designed. It is a privilege and a joy to be able to participate in helping people restore balance and function in their bodies and thus their quality of life.
